Easy To Make Baby Blankets – Sure To Be A Big Hit At The Baby Shower!

For a new Mum, the Baby Shower is just sssssoooo exciting! There’s the fun baby games, yummy scrumy food and of course the Presents!

Now when it comes to baby presents, as a “Mum To Be” you appreciate all your gorgeous gifts, but you especially love the hand made gifts because you realise the effort and thought that has gone into making your special little miracle a unique baby present … And that’s so special!

The best part is when you see that baby again at the next party or function actually wearing what you made. A big fuss will be made and you’ll be credited with making the gift the little bubba has on.

But seriously don’t get too freaked out, thinking “I can’t knit like Grandma” or I’m not crafty like Aunty Sue”, because I have the EASIEST baby gift you can make, but the best thing is it looks gorgeous too!

BEAUTIFUL BABY BLANKETS

STEP 1: Go to a fabric shop and find the flannelette material.

STEP 2: Choose different fabrics so you can make it look different on each side. Mix and match and have some fun. Maybe pink stripes on one side and yellow butterflies on the other. Perhaps go unisex if you’re not sure if the baby is a boy or girl.

STEP 3: Ask the assistant to cut your fabric to 1.2 metres.

STEP 4: Sit at a large flat table to pin your fabric together. Make sue the pattern is facing IN.

STEP 5: Sew up all the sides with straight lines, but leave a gap of about 10cm on one of the sides.

STEP 6: Reach your hand into the hole and turn the fabric inside out.

STEP 7: Tuck the fabric in around the hole so it looks like the rest of the blankie.

STEP 8: Sew 2 straight lines around the edge of the whole blankie. This is done for 2 reasons. A) To sew up the whole left when you turned the fabric inside out. B) It makes a nice border.

If youre a bit more experienced or brave then experiment with different border stitching.

STEP 9: You’re done with the sewing! YAY! Now fold the blanket nicely and add a pretty bow.

STEP 10: Give your present with pride and watch the response when the “Mum To Be” realises you put so much effort into making her gorgeous little baby a special hand made present.
